Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at IC Therapies in Maidstone, Kent, helps individuals lead fulfilling lives by addressing interconnected thoughts, emotions, actions, and feelings. Endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), CBT effectively treats depression, anxiety, and trauma. Sessions, lasting 50 minutes, are conducted online, via telephone, or in person. Clients complete questionnaires to monitor progress and engage in collaborative, active exploration with therapists. Homework tasks reinforce learning between sessions. With commitment and openness to new skills, clients progress toward goals, supported every step of the way by IC Therapies.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) focuses on enhancing relationships to alleviate distress and improve mood. IPT, endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), employs evidence-based strategies to address interpersonal challenges contributing to depression. Through role play and communication exercises, clients learn assertive behaviours and new communication skills to navigate relationship conflicts effectively. IPT is adaptable for unilateral couples work, fostering healthier relationships. It targets loneliness, unresolved grief, life transitions, and interpersonal disputes, offering support for depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and eating disorders. IPT therapy helps individuals strengthen connections and achieve emotional well-being.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy offers a path to calm beyond trauma and anxiety. Recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), EMDR gently guides individuals through the recovery process from traumatic events. By facilitating the brain’s proper processing of distressing memories, EMDR aims to halt their recurrence and alleviate their impact. EMDR therapy targets various forms of trauma, including PTSD, abuse, combat, or crime aftermath. It extends its healing touch to associated concerns like depression, addiction, phobias, and self-esteem issues. Through targeted interventions, EMDR addresses traumatic experiences, promoting emotional well-being and recovery from distressing events.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) offers a transformative journey towards healing and self-compassion. Rooted in psychology and neuroscience, CFT focuses on nurturing compassion, particularly for oneself, to address various mental health challenges. Through structured exercises and mindfulness techniques, individuals learn to reframe self-critical thoughts, develop self-soothing mechanisms, and cultivate emotional resilience.
CFT enables individuals to navigate trauma, anxiety, and depression by fostering self-compassion and understanding. It equips them with practical tools to manage distress, reduce self-criticism, and enhance self-acceptance. By nurturing a compassionate relationship with oneself and others, CFT promotes emotional balance and growth. CFT is effective in treating trauma-related symptoms, anxiety disorders, depression, and persistent self-criticism. It provides a framework for healing, leveraging compassion as a powerful tool for mental well-being and a more fulfilling life.
